The Ownership Map follows ownership chains of more than 50 per cent up to the ultimate registered controller, and shows how control is distributed between individuals, Norwegian companies, foreign companies and dispersed ownership.
79,1 % of the 393094 active companies with shareholder data have one registered majority owner. The rest have dispersed ownership, with no single owner above 50 per cent.

Method and limitations
The analysis covers active Norwegian companies with shareholder data in Biztrac’s most recent available annual extract (2025). For each company we follow holdings above 50 per cent upwards to an individual, to a Norwegian or foreign company with no further majority owner, or until the chain stops. Where no single owner holds more than 50 per cent, the ownership is classified as dispersed.
The Ownership Map shows registered share ownership and calculated majority control. It is not the official Register of Beneficial Owners, and it does not capture control exercised through agreements, related parties, or holdings that together confer control. The foreign share is based on the registered country code. An organisation with a Norwegian organisation number is treated as Norwegian when the country code is missing; other missing country codes are shown as unknown.
