- Musikkens studieforbund har 27 frivillige organisasjoner som medlemsorg. Det er studieforbund for musikklivet og har opplæring innen musikkområdet som hovedoppgave. Innenfor rammen av lov om voksenopplæring skal MSF legge forholdene til rette for medlemsorganisasjonenes opplærings- og studiearbeid i og utenfor det organiserte musikkliv.
